EVGB

During her tenure at an advertising agency, Simmons collaborated with premier real estate development firm Extell on branding initiatives, establishing a strong professional relationship. Subsequently, Extell embarked on a notable project called EVGB in the Village, with a vision to celebrate the local art scene and the talented artists who contribute to its vibrancy. Recognizing Simmons' creative prowess and their exceptional rapport, Extell approached her to create a captivating artwork inspired by this concept.

Two sided magazine spread. One side shows a silhouette of a woman with 'HELLO!' in a speech bubble, the other is a colorful diner-style seating.

Simmons re-interpreted the roof and amenities deck into a board-game grid that encourages viewers to explore and navigate the roof footprint as a model that encourages relaxation, rejuvenation, and creative stimulation. Bold, graphic, and colorful, Simmons used objects and abstract symbols from found materials in the immediate neighborhood to create a narrative about the community space.

The resulting piece, titled "Sleep, Observe, Create: Art is Real Estate," is a unique multimedia model of the building’s roof deck, showcased prominently within Extell's sales center in the EVGB building. Ultimately, this piece blends Simmons’ practice of working with found objects to create miniature fantasy worlds that, in this case, have been made a reality - standing as a testament to the interconnectedness of art, real estate, and community.
