The 80s was the time of the comforting personality of CBS anchorman Walter Cronkite, a time when people still liked and trusted the media. It was the beginning of real-time news and television series about the lives of the super-rich, lewd details included with beginning of deregulation of televised content. Limits were pushed, including the limits of money, as the cult of equivocation of wealth with good ethics began to form, and aspiration to limitless, intangible credit-based riches and homogeneous luxury. The attainment of wealth was viewed as freedom, but the end of wealth was to become a conglomeration of products, and a personality became what you consumed. I Love The 80s is an oil on canvas series that celebrates and laments the fast-moving consumerist culture of the 80s with fragmented images of the years that laid the groundwork for how our world functions today.
