Pink Lemonade

Abstract oil painting by Kristin Simmons, featuring a harmonious blend of soft pastels and bold color strokes. The composition is a dance of blues, yellows, pinks, and whites, with sporadic touches of deeper hues.

β€˜Pink Lemonade’ is a stylistic departure for Simmons in her practice. From her earliest pieces, she has always maintained a preference for the objective across multiple media - maintaining an exactness and control that shapes her stylistic approach. Inspired by a desire to create with more fluidity, Simmons asked what it would take for her to lose control in her work. The answer was to literally change the way that she sees - opting to paint without the help of her glasses or contact lenses - forcing an entirely different approach to her work and creating a new perspective. The result is β€˜Pink Lemonade,’ a still life painting that is abstract, fluid, and amorphous in nature. Derivative in style, this piece finds a home in her collection of works through its symbiotic color palette and its kindred energy.
